We designed, built, installed and tested approximately 145 stations worth of electronic signs, speakers, dispatcher and ambient noise sensing microphones. To handle all of this new equipment, cabinets of sound processors with surge protection were built in a lab and tested to withstand vibrations of incoming trains before being set up in stations.
Dedicated computers were installed to automate audio and text based announcements to commuters. We also designed a remote announcement functionality that would allow station dispatchers and staff of rail control center to make broadcasts to train stations.
Henry did CAD (computer aided design) work for creating shop drawings and as-builts by directly interfacing with NYCT face to face. Henry quality checked the drawings generated by a team of 6 drafters.
