Station Rehab for Ditmars Blvd + 23rd St/6th Ave + Chambers St

Full replacement of all outdated telecom equipment, while adding new speakers, video screens for customer announcements & new CCTV equipment for security. 23rd street station overhaul includes a unique audio connection that overcomes a structural obstacle between south and northbound platforms.

PBX system
Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Upgrade

Upgraded telephone carrier equipment at seven locations with new equipment using a hybrid digital / analog interface to increase bandwidth capacity to 140 megabits per circuit.

  • Planning, testing & installation of new power plants
  • Design drawings of the new telephone circuitry
  • Replacement of air cooling system for computer electronics
  • Commissioned 2-4 racks of equipment per location

VHF Radio Upgrade

We converted wideband VHF (very high frequency) radios to narrowband across 115 train stations to provide coverage within the entire NYCT subway network. We did:

  • Integration of new audio into existing circuits
  • Drawings of RF equipment & 14+ miles of coax wiring
  • Radio station prototype to demonstrate viability
  • Documentation to prove functionality from commissioning

Public Address / Customer Information Screen

For 100+ subway stations, we installed new speakers and video screens to inform passengers of an approaching train using automated train supervisory data provided from the existing fiber optic network.

  • Floorplans showing distribution of video and audio equipment

  • Ambient noise testing on subway platforms
  • Performance of site surveys to determine equipment location

SONET / ATM Network

We installed 757 miles of optic fiber cable and over 467 high bandwidth T1 switches throughout the entire subway station to create the largest fiber network in the world at the time.

  • New network system from the ground up

  • 495 equipment cabinets tested and installed
  • Power plant integration to feed equipment in over 400+ comm rooms
